Lahore: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mudassar Riaz Malik has issued a notification under Section 4 of the Punjab Land Acquisition Act 1894 to acquire land for the Ravi Riverfront Urban Development (RRUD) project; after cancelling the previous notification, issued in February, under the same section, a news source reported on October 8. Malik also instructed for the formation of a district price assessment committee.

Khurram Mukhtar Bhangu and Atiq Akram have been designated land acquisition collectors for district Shalimar, while Zafar Iqbal has been designated the land acquisition collector for Tehsil Ferozewala. The RRUD project would be established over a total land area of 613,785 kanals – acquired from 32 mauzas of Lahore and 90 mauzas of Ferozewala.

In the initial phase, at least 127,023 kanals of land would be acquired from 26 mauzas of the city including 17 mauzas of Tehsil Shalimar and 9 mauzas from Tehsil City. Moreover, the majority of land acquisition would be from the following mauzas:
- 3,578 kanals from Mauza Baghbanpura
- 7,539 kanals from Mehmood Booti
- 4,465 kanals from Kot Khawaja Saeed
- 3,337 kanals from Sagian Wassan Pura
- 22,680 kanals from Lakhu Der
- 7,630 kanals from Pandu
- 6,471 kanals from Nitki
- 1,509 kanals from Tej Garh
- 1,567 kanals from Ram Pura
- 342 kanals from Shahab Pura
