Previously, the civic agency had submitted a request to the DC for imposition of Section 4 so it could acquire land for connecting the LDA City housing scheme with the main arteries of the city; which include Lahore Ring Road, Kacha, and Gajjumatta.
Now that the DC has imposed Section 4, the development authority will be able to acquire 450 kanals of land for constructing the connecting roads.
LDA Director General (DG) Muhammad Usman Muazzam said that the authority had acquired 12, 311 kanals of land for the LDA City Phase-1 so far. This amounts to 90% of the total land offered to LDA, which is 13,000 kanals.
During the meeting, the LDA DG directed the officials concerned to expedite the process of acquiring the remaining 689 kanals. For this purpose, he instructed to depute relevant revenue officials from the sub-registrar’s office at the LDA Head Office.
Muazzam also directed to earmark land required for constructing access roads and to prepare cost estimations pertaining to the process.
In response, the officials concerned informed the meeting that a computerised balloting process will take place on November 30, 2019. The balloting will assign plots number against exempted files of the LDA City using a system developed by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB). They added that LDA had already approved a schedule for finalising the arrangements for this purpose.
