Mansehra: The district administration has imposed Section 4 to acquire land for the Balakot Hydropower Project, a news source reported on March 3. The initiative will generate 300 megawatts of electricity and will cost PKR 85 billion.

The Balakot Hydropower project is being executed by the Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization. Deputy Commissioner Dr Qasim Ali Khan on Tuesday revealed that the administration has already fulfilled the legal formalities to acquire over 1,700 kanals of land for the project and the remaining process will be completed shortly.

Moreover, Khan said that the project will be developed downstream of the 860-megawatt Suki Kinari Hydropower project, which is being executed under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiative at Kunhar River in Kaghan valley.
The delegation of the Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization also visited the project site in Kaghan.
