Islamabad: The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) declared on Monday (August 9) that the month of July saw an increase in the registration of construction and real estate firms, according to news reports. Overall, 313 construction-related businesses were registered in July, primarily due to the government’s efforts to stimulate the economy through the development of the construction sector. The cities of Islamabad and Lahore saw the most company filings, accounting for 66 % of all the newly registered firms in July.

According to the details shared by the authority a total of 1,949 companies registered with SECP (mostly online) of which Islamabad has the most registered firms (645), followed by Lahore (634) and Karachi (294), respectively. Apart from the real estate industry, there are 279 companies registered with authority in the trade sector, 243 in information technology, 178 in services, 117 in e-commerce, and 76 in food and beverages.

In addition to the local companies, 47 international firms belonging to various countries also got registered. Overall, SECP collected PKR 2.7 billion in registration fees
