Lahore: The Punjab government on Wednesday announced its decision to impose a smart lockdown in eight more neighbourhoods identified as COVID-19 hotspots in the city, according to reports. The information was shared by Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasim Rashid in a press conference held in Services Hospital.

According to details, the smart lockdown will be imposed in Gulberg, Walled City, Faisal Town, Model Town, Gulshan-e-Ravi, and the Defence Housing Authority. Dr Rashid said that the provincial government will put 96,229 houses and approximately 1.69 million people of the mentioned neighbourhoods under smart lockdown.

She further confirmed that while the Walled City will remain sealed, Shah Alam Market and Akbari Mandi will remain open. At the same time, medical stores and grocery stores in the locked down areas will also continue to operate under the communicated SOPs and during the notified hours.
