Peshawar: The Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) recently demanded the government to computerise its land records to make the allotments process more transparent, according to a statement released by the group on Wednesday (July 8).

SCCI President Engineer Maqsood Anwar Pervaiz said that people were having issues with transferring property due to the primitive patwari system. He emphasized that computerizing land records would eliminate corruption in this process, and would be in line with the government’s vision of transparency.

He stated that the growing property cases in the province’s courts were proof that the existing system needed to be replaced. Additionally, Pervaiz appreciated the provincial government’s efforts to include the construction industry in its relief plans, but urged that all related sectors should be a part of this initiative as well. He also asked for practical, implementable solutions to the issues faced by the business community and the general public with regards to the land allotment process.
