Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) business community has invited several Czech Republic-based companies to invest in the country’s special economic zones (SEZs) being established under the multi-billion economic corridor (CPEC) project, a news source reported.

Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Senior Vice President Saad Khan Zahid expressed his views on the matter during a meeting with Czech Economic and Trade Consular Michael Bobek on Thursday.

Czech Republic Honorary Consul General in Peshawar Asad Saifullah Khan, SCCI Vice-President Haris Mufti, and former presidents Maqsood Anwar Pervez and Malik Riaz Awan were all present at the occasion.

Zahid informed the delegation regarding the investment opportunities available in the province. He said that the energy sector offers the most attractive returns on investment in KP.

Further, he informed that the federal government had introduced measures to develop and promote trade ties with different countries. He urged the delegation to benefit from this opportunity.

In response, the Czech official stressed the need to organise trade forums in both countries. He stated that his country’s commerce minister would visit Pakistan in June.

He assured the KP business community that his government would facilitate them in the visa process. He added that the Czech Republic would take initiatives to promote trade ties with Pakistan.
