Peshawar: The Sarhad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) has asked for tax exemptions on industrial plots, a news source reported. These plots are for the construction of industrial estates under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Economic Zone & Management (KPEZDMC).

The SCCI president Faiz Mohammad Faizi met with the Secretary Excise, Taxation, & Narcotics Control Zafar Ali Shah at the chamber house. He made the said request for tax exemption during this meeting.
Faizi further asked the KP Excise & Taxation department to fix the property taxes as per rental basis and equitable basis. He also stressed on ending the harassment of business community in name of tax recovery.
He said that the industrialists and traders play a significant role in creating maximum job opportunities in KP. He then demanded to finish the Excise & Taxation tax in the cantonment board area.
Meanwhile, Shah has assured to stop harassment of business community during tax collection. He added that the department will introduce further ease in the tax collection system. He expects this to help both taxpayers and tax collectors through prior intimation.

Shah said that property tax exemption does not fall under his department’s or the provincial government’s jurisdiction. But he assured that they will offer facilities to the business community in this regard. He further told that the department will review the property tax on commercial properties floor-wise.
