Islamabad: The Supreme Court on Thursday directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to remove all illegal constructions in Bani Gala in a bid to regularise the posh locality, a news source reported.

Justice Gulzar Ahmed conducted proceedings on a suo motu case pertaining to illegal construction in Bani Gala and pollution in the Rawal Dam Lake.
CDA Chairman Amir Ahmed, who was present in the court, requested the top court to grant a month’s timeframe to the civic agency. On receiving the assurance, Justice Ahmed adjourned the case for one month.
Previously, the top court had sought details of laws and fees the civic agency had imposed for the regularisation of structures in Bani Gala area of the federal capital.

According to CDA, around 75% of the construction in Bani Gala is illegal and needs to be demolished under the law.
