Karachi: The Supreme Court (SC) has directed the Pakistan Railways to inform the court about the final deadline regarding the restoration of the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) project, and the revival of local train operations in the city, a news source reported. The SC has sought the KCR deadline in its hearing scheduled for tomorrow (August 9).

A three-member bench comprising Justice Gulzar Ahmed, Justice Faisal Arab, and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah resumed the hearing pertaining to the progress on the KCR revival project. The bench directed Secretary Railways Sikandar Sultan Raja to inform the court about the final date in the upcoming hearing.
Seeking the deadline, the court also asked the secretary to revive the local train operations in Karachi, along with KCR.

Moreover, the bench also expressed concerns regarding the railways administration’s failure to clear the KCR track despite a passage of three months; a deadline previously announced by the court.
