Karachi: The Supreme Court on has sought a master plan for Karachi from the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) – a news source reported.
A two-judge bench comprised of Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah gave these orders. The bench was hearing a case regarding commercialisation of residential land in the metropolis.

It ordered the Sindh government to convene a cabinet meeting and submit a report in two weeks. Justice Gulzar Ahmed remarked that the original master plan was approved in 1960.
Moreover, the court ordered the authorities concerned to demolish at least 500 illegal buildings in Karachi. It ordered SBCA to seek inputs from experts regarding the demolition drive.

Justice Ahmed expressed concerns over the current condition of Karachi. He regretted the destruction of Karachi’s infrastructure. He stated that the court will not tolerate any inaction on its orders.
