Lahore: The Sindh Revenue Department has been ordered to retrieve encroached properties belonging to minorities, a news source reported. A two-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Saqib Nisar issued the directives.
The bench was hearing a suo motu matter at the Lahore registry relating to encroachment of properties owned by the Hindu community. MNA Dr Rasmesh, who represented the community, submitted a report on encroached land in different areas of the province – including Mithi, Larkana, Kashmore, and Sukkur.
The officials concerned informed the bench that several cases regarding the ownership of properties had been pending before different civil courts. The chief justice gave a six-month deadline to the civil courts to decide the pending cases. He also ordered the tehsildars concerned to take possession of the said properties.
