Karachi: The Supreme Court has asked the Sindh government to revive the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) in one month’s time, a news source reported. The apex court has also directed the government to remove the encroachments on K tracks within 15 days.

A two-member bench of the Supreme Court Karachi Registry, comprised of Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Mazhar Alam, issued these orders in the KCR revival case.
The Secretary Railways assured the court that his department would get the land of the KCR track vacated and handed over to the provincial government.
Justice Gulzar Ahmed said that the court would not grant more than two weeks to the Railway department for retrieving the said land. At the same time, the court ordered the federal and provincial governments, as well as the KMC, to provide land alternatives to the affectees who would be moved off the KCR land.

Secretary Railway informed the court that the affectees had been identified, and gave suggestions to facilitate their relocation.
