Karachi: The Supreme Court has ordered the retrieval of illegally occupied Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) buildings, a news source reported. SC has also issued instructions to investigate officials involved in the illegal possession of the buildings and take action against them.
A three-member bench of Supreme Court Karachi registry was hearing the case on the illegal possession of ETPB buildings and expressed displeasure at the continued illegal occupation of the buildings.
The authorities informed the court that only in Lyari, 17 of EPTB buildings are illegally occupied. The court remarked that plans should be made to transfer the families residing in such buildings elsewhere and instructed the authorities to look for an alternative space for the purpose.
