After hearing KMC’s plea, the bench redirected the attention towards the city’s master plan. The court asked KMC to present the plan, but the civic body failed to do so. The court expressed its concern over Karachi being run without a master plan. The bench adjourned the case until the court’s next hearing, which is expected to take place after Eid.

The SC had sought a master plan from the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) back in January 2019. It issued orders to the provincial government to conduct a cabinet meeting and submit a report. In February, the Sindh government decided to devise master plans for 15 districts of the province. It had previously announced that it would develop master plans for Karachi and Sukkur.
