Karachi: The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday issued orders to the Sindh government to construct underpasses and flyovers on the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) tracks within a set a period of time, a news source reported. The apex court further directed the provincial government to complete all the formalities and financial arrangements for this purpose.

A three-member SC bench conducted the hearing of the KCR revival case. During the hearing, the Sindh Secretary of Transport informed the court that 10 out of 24 crossings of the KCR tracks would undergo the construction of underpasses and flyovers. He added that the provincial government had allocated PKR 5 billion for this purpose.
The transport secretary highlighted that the construction of the flyovers and underpasses would take six months to complete. The SC bench replied that the KCR revival should reach completion this year.

On the other hand, the apex court also ordered the demolition of houses built on the piece of land of Hill Park in Karachi. The SC bench directed the Karachi Commissioner to present a report following the retrieval of land.
