Lahore: The Supreme Court on Saturday directed the authorities to compensate the affectees of LDA City scheme – a news source reported.
Chief Justice Saqib Nisar also ordered the parties concerned to clear loopholes regarding an objectionable clause. The issue had been raised by the counsels for the private developers.

Moreover, Punjab Minister for Housing Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed informed the Supreme Court about the government’s plan. He said that over 9,000 affectees of the scheme would be compensated.
He said that the developers had handed over 58,000 kanals of scattered land to LDA. However, the civic agency possessed consolidated land measuring around 9,000 kanals.

The minister said that LDA wanted to develop phase-I on the consolidated land. This, he said, was possible if the partners acquired 4,500 kanals for LDA to prepare the plots.
Rasheed said that the affectees would be compensated in the shape of plots in phase-I. He further informed the court that the land would be acquired from private individuals on market value.
