Islamabad: The Supreme Court (SC) directed the government to present a bill drafted by the judicial commission on slums, according to a news report. The government has been asked to keep it updated as per the needs of low-income groups.
This was directed by a bench of the SC, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar who heard different petitions against the removal of urban slums from the capital. To this, the Chief Justice asked for a report on the condition of slums across the country. The petitioner’s counsel Bilal Minto said that Prime Minister Imran Khan had constituted a new committee regarding slums and low-income communities throughout the country.
