Islamabad: The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered all provincial governments to shared details on the country’s existing cooperative housing schemes within a time frame of three weeks; in addition to providing assistance to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in its ongoing probe into marketing malpractices allegedly committed by the managements of these projects.

A three-judge bench of the apex court, headed by Justice Umar Atta Bandial, gave the orders while hearing the case on forensic audit of housing societies in the country. The bench said that the FIA was authorised to take action against housings schemes in any province.

It further observed that people had been robbed off by fake housing schemes whereas the system provided technical cover to the offenders.
