Karachi: The business community has requested the Supreme Court to review its decision with regard to demolition of commercial outlets built on residential plots – a news source reported.
Representatives from the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and the Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (ABAD) expressed their views on the matter.

FPCCI President Daroo Khan claimed that the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) lacked clarification with regard to the Supreme Court orders. He requested the apex court to issue another notification on the matter.
Moreover, he requested the government to involve ABAD in the decision-making process. He also urged the authorities concerned to prohibit SBCA from demolishing the units in question.

In response, ABAD Chairman Hassan Bakshi said that the apex court had ordered to only raze illegal constructions. He added that SBCA’s operations are affecting commercial and residential activities within the area.
