Islamabad: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has issued another public service message in which it has asked citizens to stop sharing personal information with unverified callers – a news source reported.
According to a statement issued by the central bank, several impersonators are involved in attempts to defraud the bank customers, since these individuals can mask the official helpline or registered number of the financial institution concerned.

These people (impersonating SBP officials, army officers, or representatives of the superior courts) make hoax calls as a ploy to obtain crucial information from the customers; including their account numbers, IDs, passwords, CNIC numbers, and other relevant details.
Moreover, in such instances, the SBP has further advised the general public to contact the designated branches on registered helplines instead of revealing such vital information to these fake callers.
