The decision was made in a meeting chaired by SBCA Director General (DG) Dr Nasimul Ghani Sahito. In the first phase, SBCA will issue notices to building owners. In case of non-compliance the illegal buildings will be sealed.
The operation was previously halted due the lockdown announced on March 23. However, according to SBCA officials, illegal constructions had started again during the lockdown. In response, the SBCA decided to take action during the lockdown period. SBCA’s demolition squad will also be mobilised to facilitate this measure.

Meanwhile, the SBCA DG has also initiated the process of restructuring the authority. Previously, a number of bifurcations had been announced in SBCA departments. Now those bifurcations have been withdrawn and the authority will function as per its sanctioned positions.
