Karachi: Commissioner Iftikhar Shallwani has directed the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) to demolish 326 illegal under-construction buildings in different areas of the city, a news source reported.

He gave these instructions during a high-level meeting, which was held to review progress on the orders of the Supreme Court (SC). The SBCA director general, deputy commissioners of South and East districts, and senior police officials were all present at the occasion.
Commissioner Shallwani directed the deputy commissioners concerned to monitor the demolition campaign and provide every possible assistance to the building control authority.
In response, the SBCA chief informed the participants that a task force was recently constituted on SC orders to monitor the demolition drive in illegal under-construction buildings.

He said that the officials concerned had identified 326 illegal buildings for demolition in Gulberg Town (31), Liaquatabad Town (72), New Karachi Town (13), North Nazimabad Town (six), Gulshan Town-I (13), Jamshed Town-I (four), Jamshed Town-II (52), Saddar Town-I (28), Saddar Town-II (26), Lyari Town (54), Malir Town (16), four each in Korangi and Landhi towns, and three in Bin Qasim Town.
