Karachi: The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has formed a special task force to demolish illegal constructions in the city, reported a news source. The task force will launch a crackdown against illegally constructed structures and buildings in Karachi. The SBCA has also issued a written order announcing formation of the task force.

Reportedly, the SBCA has also completed its preparations to launch a mega operation against illegal construction activities. Under the first phase of this operation, the building control authority will launch a crackdown in central parts of Karachi, including Federal B Area, Hussainabad, Liaquatabad and Sharifabad.

The task force will operate under the chairmanship of an additional director general. According to source, formation of the task force was carried out on orders of the Supreme Court. Furthermore, the task force will also supervise the activities of the previously formed demolition squad.
The task force will focus on razing illegally constructed storeys and buildings in the abovementioned areas. Sources also claim that the SBCA has finalized the listings containing details on the illegally constructed buildings that it plans to demolish.
