Karachi: The demolition squad of Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) took action against commercial buildings on Khalid Bin Waleed Road and other areas to seal and demolish a number of shops, restaurants and showrooms, a news source reported. The operation was conducted on the instructions of SBCA Director General Iftikhar Ali Qaimkhani and on the orders of Supreme Court-mandated Water Commission.
On Khalid Bin Waleed Road the action was taken against residential plots that were being used for commercial purposes. The shops, restaurants and showrooms established on 23 plots were sealed.
The Assistant Commissioner (East) and SBCA Jamshed Town officials were present in the operation.
Buildings were also demolished in Lyari Town, Gulberg Town, and Federal B Area. Other buildings were also sealed in Lyari Town. The operations were conducted under respective Deputy/Assistant Building Directors and Demolition Officers. The SBCA police force was also present on the occasion.
