Karachi: The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has finalised and issued a new policy for banquet halls and gardens, stated a news source. The new policy makes it mandatory for banquet halls and gardens to have a minimum area of 2,000 yd2.
According to details, banquet halls and lawns must face an at least 150 feet wide road. In addition, the authority has notified that property owners using their residential properties for other purposes need to pay conversion fees. These marriage halls or lawns on residential property will get a regularised status only after the concerned departments are provided with original, verified documents.
Through this news report, SBCA also gave a 6-month deadline to owners of marriage halls constructed on land meant for welfare trusts to shut the units down, which will be demolished after the deadline.
