Karachi: Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) Director General Ashkar Dawar has instructed the authority’s directors to survey and report on unlawfully constructed structures in the city — a news source reported. He also stated that any officials found facilitating these illegal constructions would face administrative action.

The SBCA has further launched various operations to raze identified dilapidated and illegally constructed buildings around the city. Operations were conducted in Saddar Town, Gulberg, and Nazimabad against buildings that were constructed in violation of their maps. Some of the builder also construct buildings with more storeys than are allowed in the city. The authorities plan on demolishing such buildings as well.

The SBCA has also launched an additional operation to raze dilapidated building in Karachi. The government of Sindh had earlier issued a report identifying various dilapidated buildings in the metropolitan city, and the SBCA is taking action against the structures that were categorized as being dangerous by the report.
