Karachi: The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) Director General (DG) recently ordered for strict action to be taken against structures identified in violation of building bylaws as per the instructions of the Supreme Court — a news source reported. He further instructed that the government’s communicated standard operating procedures (SOPs) should be strictly followed at all SBCA offices to curb further coronavirus spread.

The DG made these comments while addressing a special meeting of SBCA directors on Monday. He stated that pursuant to the Supreme Court’s orders, buildings will be demolished or sealed if they violate any SBCA’s bylaws. He added that violators will also have FIRs registered against them.

He further directed the relevant officials to dispatch letters to the various other agencies of the city, including the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, to instruct them to cancel the lease in case a particular construction on leased lands is found to have violated any bylaws. Additionally, he directed that the utility connections of such buildings should also be disconnected.
