Karachi: The Supreme Court (SC) has asked the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) to submit a 10-year record of the building plans approved by it in Karachi, a news source reported. In this regard, the apex court has sought the approvals of building plans comprising more than ground plus two floors. The court has given SBCA a time of two weeks to submit this report.

According to the SC order, the report must include the building addresses, names of owners, names of sanctioning officials, and present status of the buildings. Chief Justice (CJ) Gulzar Ahmed directed the Chief Secretary (CS) to submit the report within the provided deadline and immediately take over the SBCA’s affairs.
On the other hand, the court has ordered the Karachi Commissioner to clear the Shahrah-e-Quaideen, along with its three islands, from all types of encroachments. It has directed to turn the road into a beautiful green belt from Shahrah-e-Faisal to Quaid’s Mausoleum.

According to the court’s orders, the authorities concerned should clear the service road on both sides of the Shahrah-e-Quaideen to make it serviceable, and disallow parking on it. The commissioner was also asked to relocate the denters, painters, and car repairers from both sides of the Khudadad Colony.
