Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that Pakistan will sign agreements worth USD 2 billion with a visiting Saudi delegation, according to a source on October 8.

As per the details, the announcement was led by Minister for Investment Khalid Bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih, from October 9-11. This visit precedes the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, scheduled for October 15-16.
The Saudi delegation, comprising government and private sector representatives, aims to bolster Pakistan-Saudi economic ties through these agreements.
Additionally, the federal cabinet ratified various key agreements, including subsidies for the fishing sector and the designation of Gwadar and Shanghai Ports as sister ports. Other agreements involve bilateral political consultations with Rwanda and Ghana, and the delegation of judicial authority to magistrates in Gwadar and Hub for narcotics cases.

The Ministry of IT and Telecom also reported improvements in Pakistan’s e-governance, boosting the country’s global ranking by 14 positions in the UN’s E-Government Development Index (EGDI). The prime minister urged further enhancements, with progress to be reviewed in two weeks.
