Islamabad: Senate Chairman Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani on Friday stated that Gwadar should have a separate power distribution setup, a news source reported. He also stressed for a similar setup for the districts of Chaghi, Lasbela, and Awaran.

During a meeting with Federal Minister for Power Division Omar Ayub Khan, Sanjrani highlighted that Balochistan was the largest province in terms of area in the country and its power distribution system should undergo improvement. He said that the province could meet its electricity needs via the establishment of renewable energy and solar energy projects.
Stressing for a separate power distribution setup for Gwadar, Sanjrani also opined that the electricity system in Lasbela should be separated from K-Electric and be included into the new proposed distribution system. On the issue of renewable energy projects in Balochistan, he added that such projects would receive special incentives from the provincial government.

The chairman asked for prioritising various projects in Balochistan in order to help ease the hardships of the locals.
