Rawalpindi: On the instructions of the Government of Punjab, Excise and Taxation Department has started a sample survey in all four Rawalpindi Districts to increase taxes on property according to its market value and rental income, a news source reported.

Reportedly, the provincial government has issued written orders to the Excise Tax Officers (ETOs) and property collection department to begin the sample survey. The ETOs are supervising the sample surveys in their respective districts of the city.

The ETOs have also received the instructions to carry out assessments on market prices of property owned by banks, private and corporate firms, their franchises, and business chains.

The survey will help the Excise Department determine the market value of property in Rawalpindi and the monthly rental income it helps generate for the owners. The purpose of this exercise is to levy property taxes in accordance to the assets’ market value and the monthly income they generate for their owners.
