According to reports, the land would be bought in 64 villages along the project’s projected 69-kilometre course. The project is part of the Frontier Works Organisation’s (FWO) Sialkot-Lahore motorway (M-11) expansion project. During the final week of December last year, the district price assessment committee, led by deputy commissioner Dr Khurram Shahzad, assessed the land price. According to Gujarat Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue (ADCR) Amir Shahzad Kang, the land price was determined using the DC land rate. However, an additional 15% has been added to the planned price to account for land transfer fees. Similarly, the following amount has been allotted for land purchase in various districts under the proposed formula:
- PKR 7.49 billion has been proposed for Kharian
- PKR 2.53 billion for the 3,450 acres of land and other properties
- PKR 3 billion for 1.171 acres land in Sambrial tehsil
