Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has blocked the sale of plots in Blue Area and has proclaimed that his government would never compromise on transparency. The action was taken by the PM upon learning that transparency was being comprised in the auction of Blue Area’s commercial plots.
As per sources, CDA had decided to sell 12 commercial plots in Blue Area (located in sector F-9 and G-9), each plot measuring up to 1333.33 sq yrd. Despite advertisements, the auction failed to attract many buyers and only 11 people responded. This less-than-stellar response, as per a source within the CDA, was more likely to benefit a few people in charge of the project without getting a good price for the plots.
In a meeting with Cabinet Secretary Nargis Sethi and Chairman CDA Farkhand Iqbal, the Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf decided to call off the auction. According to the details, PM asked the secretary cabinet to submit a detailed report regarding the auction of plots in Blue Area within three days.
