Sahiwal: Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has approved the construction of a 44-kilometre long Express Highway that will connect Sahiwal with Lahore-Multan Motorway, from Samundari Interchange onwards, according to media reports published on Tuesday (February 1).

As per the details, the two-way double land project will start from College Chowk and will pass through Sarwar Chowk, Rahmah Shah, Qutab Shahana Bridge, and Koray Shah before reaching Samundri Bypass. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Awais Malik, Highway Department EXEN Mansoor Hyder, and Deputy Director Development Ikram Wattoo visited the Madhali Road to work on the project’s feasibility.
Reportedly, DC mentioned that the highway department was asked to finalise the budget for the said project. It was disclosed that the district coordination committee will approve the total cost within a week and it will be sent to the provincial government for final approval.

It is important to note that the Sahiwal Motorway link road project was approved in April 2021, but was delayed due to uncertain reasons.
