Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar on Friday (February 25) laid the foundation stone of the Sagian–Sharakpur Road rehabilitation and development project, news sources reported.

The project worth PKR 4.32 billion, will be completed in a short eight months. According to reports, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) would complete the project in an effort to improve traffic flow at the city’s entry and exit points. Once completed the project is expected to serve 110,000 vehicles and commuters.

- Four roads will be built as part of the project design:
- A 4-kilometre long road from Ravi Bridge to Phool Mandi Chowk
- Phool Mandi to Lahore-Sheikhupura Road
- A 3-kilometre long road from Phool Mandi Chowk to Faizpur Interchange
- A 1.6-kilometre long road from Phool Mandi Chowk to Begum Kot
There will also be walkable pathways, a rainwater drainage system on both sides of the road, and street lighting. The project will also function as a link between the Motorway and various metropolitan neighbourhoods. It is important to note that Sagian Road project is part of the CM Buzdar multi-billion road infrastructure development package of Lahore. Announced last year.
