Under the chairmanship of Commission’s Dr. Rizwan Naseer, second meeting of the Fire Safety Commission was held in Emergency Services Academy. The meeting was attended by Additional Secretary of Local Government Ali Janjua, Deputy Director (Housing) Riaz Ahmad, Director Environment Mohammad Tahir and other concerned officers.
Addressing to the gathering, Dr. Rizwan said, more than 300 people were killed in Karachi Town fire, 23 people were killed and 16 were injured in Kharrak Nala case and 5 people were killed and 29 injured in Aiwan-e-Mashriq Plaza and enquiry reports of such other incidents indicate that it is essential that fire safety codes of Building By-Laws must be implemented.
Chairman Fire Safety Commission also sanctioned the pointers agreed upon in the meeting. He further said that it is important to implement all the pointers highlighted by Fire Protection Association of Pakistan.
