Rawalpindi: The District administration, local police, and Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Saturday (September 16) launched a joint grand operation against criminal activities taking place in illegal societies, according to news sources.

Saif Anwar Jappa, the Director General of RDA, stated that Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chattha has established a task force with the aim of conducting a comprehensive operation against unauthorised housing societies. The operation will also target criminals hiding within these societies, the presence of weapons, and private security personnel allegedly involved in unlawful activities.
Director General Jappa disclosed that the task force, composed of four members, will take action against illegal housing projects that harbour illegal arms and employ guards without proper permits from the local police. The task force is comprised of the RDA Director General (serving as Chairman), the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Revenue, the Superintendent of Police Saddar, and the Chief Officer of the District Council. This task force was assembled last week.

Furthermore, the task force will also address unregistered security agencies that provide armed personnel to housing projects. It will conduct operations to confiscate and curb the use of illegal weapons within these housing projects and will provide daily reports to the commissioner.
Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatha emphasized that the task force has initiated the operation against illegal housing societies falling within the jurisdiction of the Chauntra and Saddar Bairooni police stations. The owners of these societies have been implicated in criminal activities.
