Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control (ETNC) department has set September 30 as the deadline for filing property tax, news sources reported. The authority has issued tax notices with a 10% hike in the proposed tax for commercial and residential properties.

According to ETNC, as many as 112,000 households and commercial property owners have received red letters to pay property tax by the specified deadline. The ETNC has also offered the following tax benefits to make the process more appealing:
● 10% concession will be offered to the owners of luxury homes and properties for paying their taxes by the due date
● 10% concession will be offered for paying the tax amount through the Easypaisa App
● 5% concession will be offered to the taxpayers for submitting taxes through banking channels or designated ETNC offices
● Any taxpayer who fails to submit the suggested amount by the deadline may face legal action, including penalties, seizure, and property sale

Furthermore, it was highlighted that the ETNC has already sent letters to taxpayers, who will be contacted soon to inform them of the approaching deadline. To further streamline the process, the authority has already formed a monitoring unit to provide assistance through WhatsApp. Furthermore, the Rawalpindi ETNC has changed the status of all schools, beauty parlours, and stores operating in residential buildings from ‘residential’ to ‘commercial’.
