Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) on Tuesday requested citizens to avoid littering the city’s nullahs and drains, according to a news source. The RWMC stated that the disposal of waste plastic bags, among other forms of garbage, in drains caused obstructions; thereby impeding their proper functioning. It further warned that the said practice could increase the risk of flooding in certain parts of the city.

Following yesterday’s sporadic and heavy rain showers, the organisation made haste to clean up the city’s choked water systems.
Later, a company spokesperson informed that in order to check any further instances of flooding, the RWMC had initiated cleanliness and drainage operations in major areas within the city on an urgent basis. The company had been specifically directed to prevent water blockage and maintain sanitation in locations which reported with pressing sanitation concerns.
