ISLAMABAD: A Russian firm has expressed its desire to invest in Pakistan’s water and power sector, including Mohmand Dam – a news source reported.
Inter RAO Engineering, which is one of the largest state-run firms operating in Russia, has offered to invest USD 2 billion in various energy projects. This firm is also funding the construction of a dam in Afghanistan.

In November last year, the representatives of the firm met officials of the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA). These officials also met Minister for Power Omar Ayub.
The projects include 7,100MW Buji, 52MW Nauseri, 2,800MW Yulbo, 2,200MW Tangus, and the 800MW Mohmand Dam venture. The officials also offered to provide technical support for these initiatives.

The total cost of these projects amounts to approximately PKR 318 billion.
RAO Engineering is seeking a deal on government-to-government basis between Pakistan and Russia. It has also offered to invest in the Jamshoro power plant.
