Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed authorities to ensure that village streets in Lahore are developed to match urban infrastructure standards as part of the Lahore Development Project.
During a special meeting to review the progress of the project, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for high-quality development with no compromises. She instructed officials to upgrade the city’s sewerage system to meet future demands and ensure the desilting of canals.

As part of the plan, the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Lahore will install 780 kilometers of new sewerage pipelines across the city, with 450 kilometers to be completed in the first phase. The project also includes an improved water supply and drainage system, upgraded roads, paved streets, streetlights, and restored parks.
A Lahore Development Management Information System has been introduced to streamline contracts, while NESPAK will oversee project inspections through the “Inspector App.” Officials highlighted that transparency measures have resulted in savings of Rs. 16 billion.
CM Maryam Nawaz reaffirmed her commitment to ensuring top-quality infrastructure and modern amenities across Lahore, including its rural areas.
