Lahore: The constant depreciation of the Pakistani Rupee against the US Dollar has made cement prices go up by PKR 10 per bag, reported a news source. Price of other products including steel and fertiliser has also been increasing.
Reportedly, the prices have been inching up from the last three weeks, with the rate per bag climbing up to PKR 575 in the northern region and PKR 630 in the southern region. Sources from the cement industry are of the view that escalation in rate of raw coal and that in the value of the USD against the PKR are the reasons behind this hike in cement prices.
The stock exchange market also registered growth in value of share of cement and fertiliser companies.
