It is estimated that this project will preserve 2.7 billion litres of water and help recharge the aquifer by boosting the underground water table. In this regard, RUDA has received proposals from various international firms for the treatment plants and has begun the process of scrutiny and tendering. In addition, authority is also constructing a 200-foot wide, 46-kilometre-long marine drive road on both sides of the river. Additionally, the project will also shift the existing landfill site at Lakhudair and a park will be developed in its place.
As per the plan, RUDA has also finalised the designs for three barrages that will ensure protection from floods during the monsoon season.
