Lahore: The Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) held a groundbreaking ceremony for the first modern wastewater treatment plant in Punjab that will be developed in the Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project (RRUDP), according to news published in the leading newspaper on May 19.

As per the details, Minister for Housing, Urban Development & Public Health Department Barrister Syed Ali Azfar Nasir and Minister for Local Government Ibrahim Murad have visited the RUDA office where they were briefed on visionary development projects that will transform the urban landscape.
The authority will soon start work on the establishment of the wastewater treatment plant. RUDA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Imran Amin disclosed that work on the state-of-the-art facility will also start soon. The said project will bring a new era of environmental sustainability to the region. The new landfill will be a scientific site equipped with all the modern mechanisms to mitigate ecological concerns. The new landfill site will cover the area of 350 acres area out of which 50 acres will be utilised for phase 1.

During the meeting, the CEO highlighted the commitment of RUDA to convert Lakho Dair into an eco-friendly park. He also unveiled the plan to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the area and provide recreational space for the locals. Both ministers lauded RUDA’s role in making efforts to take the ancient city of Lahore towards a vibrant and modern metropolitan hub.
