Lahore: The River Ravi Urban Development Agency (RUDA) has been tasked with 33 functions and powers for the development of the Ravi Riverfront Urban Development project, which includes the preparation of a master plan of the city, a news source reported.
The agency had recently been formed under the aegis of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to work on the construction of a city along River Ravi. Aside from master planning, the agency will also perform urban and special planning for the project.
New land-use and building bylaws will be prepared specifically for the Ravi Zone. Additionally, to ensure steady flow of the river, the agency will formulate a comprehensive plan with the irrigation department. RUDA will also be responsible for traffic management and traffic engineering in the new city.
Moreover, special schemes will be developed for the city which will ensure low environmental impact of the project and the project will be designed as per international standards.
