Lahore: The Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) on Wednesday (February 1) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Radio & Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC), news sources reported.

As per the MoU signed, the NRTC will provide infrastructural support by installing smart communication equipment in the existing as well as upcoming RUDA projects. Additionally, it will offer support for radio transmission, satellite, IT & Electronic Technological towers in RUDA’s smart city, safe city projects. On the occasion, NRTC Managing Director (MD) Brigadier Muhammad Asim Ishaque expressed that the department will deploy the latest and most modern solutions for public realms design, urban development, town planning, afforestation, water treatment, energy conservation and other related areas.

It is important to note that RUDA is one of the first smart city projects in Pakistan that calls for the development of technology-rich cities. The project has also attracted Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) from KSA and the United Kingdom in its smart economic and industrial zone as well as highrise projects.
