Lahore: The Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) is all ready to launch development work on the existing industrial area and adjacent land that falls under the jurisdiction of the Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project (RRUDP), according to news published on November 13.

As per the details, in the first phase, the Ravi Industrial Zone will be gated and signs will be placed including names of roads, streets, nature of the industry, and location. In the next phase, the development work will be launched, which will include the laying of water supply lines, sewerage pipes, and other infrastructure.
Moreover, the development work on the land adjacent, reserved for the Ravi Industrial Estate, will be launched soon. The news source mentioned that the total industrial area of the Ravi project is around 7,300 acres of land. The existing industrial area covers a total area of 2,500 acres while RUDA has plans to establish a state-of-the-art industrial estate on the remaining 4,800 acres of land.
Ravi Industrial Estate Association Chairman Inam Butt mentioned that as many as 1,000 small and medium industrial units including auto parts, plastic, and export item manufacturing units are operating in the area. He went on to say that a meeting was held in which RUDA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Imran Amin informed the business community that the existing Ravi industrial zone will be regulated by the authority and all issues faced by the industrial unit owners will be resolved.

Sharing details about the development charges to be paid by the factory owners in order to get the premises regularised, the chairman revealed that the owners must pay PKR 5,000 and PKR 10,000 as enlistment fee/ member fee of the industrial zone for their business points measuring up to five kanal or above. It was mentioned that the owners will have to pay PKR 500,000 per kanal as development charges liable to be paid within five years and PKR 30,000 as processing charges for map approval by the relevant authorities.
