The ban will apply to all housing societies located alongside the river’s length. The authority will impose fines and demolish any housing schemes that have been built within the specified areas. He stated that the move was taken to restore the river ecosystem and to avoid encroachment on the natural path of the river, which has hampered the smooth flow of water. In this regard, the authorities have issued notifications to all housing developments built on said land. Failure to comply with the notices will result in the authorities launching action against such schemes. He also emphasized the current development work being executed by RUDA, stating that the primary priority is to build embankments and barrages to restore the Ravi river, and that the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) would be completed shortly.

It is vital to remember that RUDA, like PCBDAA, is a government initiative to bring high-end sustainable development projects for the country’s future housing requirements. The project began in 2021 with the goal of creating a new planned city along the Ravi River with environmentally friendly facilities and industrial zones.
