Lahore: The Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) and the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) signed a landmark memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Monday at RUDA’s headquarters, as reported on August 6.

As per details, the agreement was signed by RUDA’s Chief Operating Officer Mansoor Ahmed Janjua, RUDA Chairman Syed Azfar Ali Nasir, and PHEC Chairman Professor Dr. Shahid Munir, in the presence of key representatives from both organizations. The MoU marks a significant step towards strengthening educational ties and establishing premier educational institutions in Ravi City. The initiative aims to introduce sub-campuses of international universities in the area, supported by PHEC. RUDA is also in discussions with five other international universities to expand these educational opportunities further. RUDA’s Chairman, Syed Azfar Ali Nasir, highlighted the project’s potential to boost Punjab’s educational sector and attract foreign universities, contributing to the region’s economic and intellectual growth. COO Mansoor Ahmed Janjua emphasized that this initiative goes beyond mere capital investment, focusing instead on investing in human and intellectual capital. He underscored the importance of education as a fundamental right and its role in shaping a ‘knowledge city’ in Ravi City.

PHEC Chairman Professor Dr. Shahid Munir praised RUDA’s vision and efforts to elevate educational standards, and the MoU sets the stage for the development of national and international educational institutions within Ravi City.
The event was attended by senior officials from RUDA and PHEC, including RUDA’s Executive Director of Commercial Affairs Kashif Qureshi, Director of Business Development and Investor Relations Fatima Ali Khan, and PHEC’s Director of Accreditation Dr. Muhammad Mumtaz Ali Khan.
